bleak house is the second collaboration between lance austin olsen and tim clément. for this album, also inviting ben watson to collaborate with tim clément in toronto.
"the notion of bleak house originally came from a re-reading of the charles dickens novel of that name but, as with all things, became a part of my memory bank that tends to mix and re-arrange in my mind as time passes. bleak house became a series of linked memories and incidents from a number of years that, in the end, had not much to do with dickens, but more to do with emptying a set of memories into an organization of sound and silence, smooth and jagged, delicate and rough, as if the inside of my mind had become the bleak house.
from within, the bleak house mind came quietly as an invisible man, fragments of song and sound moving out into the world, with no apparent rhyme or reason, just an unknown purpose." - lance austin olsen
